PMD not to remain a standing issue: SNSC secretary

Tehran, Nov 17, IRNA - Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani said it would be fair if the possible military dimension (PMD) issue is closed and unlikely that it will not be closed.

'The PMD was raised based on intelligence reports aimed at destroying (the image of) Iran, but the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed that Iran has had reliable, transparent and vast cooperation in the current phase,' he told reporters.

Speaking on the sidelines of a local program on Monday night, Shamkhani commented on the claims of a former US official and said, 'It is unlikely that PMD issue will remain open and that it will be acceptable.'

Earlier, Iran's representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Reza Najafi said Tehran has conditioned its implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to the closure of possible military dimension (PMD) issue.

'Article 14 of the nuclear accord stipulates hat P5+1 group of world powers has to present a resolution to IAEA Board of Governors on December 15 to close the PMD issue,' he stressed.
