Births increase

A total of 121,922 births in Tehran were registered during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), of whom 62,640 were boys and 59,282 girls.

The birth rate showed a 5.89% rise compared to the same period last year, Khabaronline quoted Mohammad Mahdi Alaei, secretary general of Tehrans Civil Registration Organization as saying.

Among the births, 117,281 were single babies and 4,641 were multiple births including 2,283 twins and 25 triplets. During the same period, 30,040 deaths were registered of which 17,044 were men and 12,995 women.
