Iraq spares no effort to give due services to pilgrims

Baghdad, Nov 15, IRNA Interior Minister of Iraq Mohammed Al-Ghabban said here that his country spares no effort to offer due services to Arbaeen pilgrims.

The Arbaeen mourning ceremony is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.

It marks the 40th day after the martyrdom anniversary of the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), Imam Hussein (AS).

The Iraqi minister made the remarks Saturday evening in a meeting with the visiting Iran's Deputy Interior Minister Hossein Zolfaqari and his accompanying delegation.

Al-Ghabban said his ministry has made its all-out efforts during the recent days to provide facilitations for the Arbaeen pilgrims.

He also elaborated on the latest measures taken to provide special services for the pilgrims, the Iranians in particular, on the Arbaeen occasion.

Al-Ghabban stressed the need to hold more joint meetings between the Iraqi and Iranian officials in order to exchange experiences in security issues.

The Arbaeen mourning ceremonies will be held on December 2 this year.

Imam Hussein Shrine is located in Karbala, Iraq.
