Amir-Abdollahian to represent Iran in Conference on Syria

Tehran, Nov 13, IRNA Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian will participate in Vienna 3 Conference on Syria due to begin on Saturday.

The first round of the Vienna 3 Conference was held in the presence of foreign ministers of Russia, the United States, Saudi Arabia and Turkey and the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov presented a detailed report on it to the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif.
The 2nd round of that conference was held in the presence of the Iranian foreign minister and several other foreign ministers from the European and Middle East region except for the Syrian foreign minister himself.
During the course of the past few months the Western politicians have several times emphasized the need for Iran's effective presence in conferences aimed at settlement of the Syrian crisis.
The last Vienna conference decided that in this upcoming meeting on November 14 both the representatives of the Syrian government and the Syrian dissidents to attend the peace talks.
Two major issues on the agenda of the upcoming conference will be to define the terrorist groups in Syria and to decide whether the continuation of such conferences would be necessary or not.
Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif said last week in a joint press conference with Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Raynders that Iran believes in two major tasks of campaign against terrorism and the Syrian nation's right to decide their own fate.
Zarif is scheduled to accompany President Rouhani to Italy and France.
