Iran to increase Iraq gas export to 35 mcm/d: Official

TEHRAN, Nov. 10 (Shana) – Iran will increase its export of gas to Iraq from current 25 mcm/d to 35 mcm/d based on a supplement agreement which is scheduled to be signed on Wednesday, said an official in the Iranian National Oil Company (NIOC).

“Iranian deputy petroleum minster and Iraqi deputy minister of electricity are going to sign the supplement with its duration extended to six years,” NIOC international affairs director, Azizollah Ramezani, told Shana.

“Iran’s gas will feed Iraqi power plants and the contract will benefit both countries,” he added.

Iraq is facing serious load-shedding and Iranian companies are operating 33 megaprojects, worth $1.5 billion, in Iraq for the time being.
