Araqchi: Supervisory Board will help better implementation of JCPOA

Tehran, Nov 12, IRNA The senior member of Iran nuclear negotiating team said establishment of the Supervisory Board will serve as a suitable step in line with correct implementation of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Talking to reporters while visiting the 21st Press and News Agencies Exhibition, he added, 'As far as I know, the board has been set up by Supreme National Security Council.'

Foreign Ministry welcomes the move and believes that such a board will help work out a better arrangement for implementing the nuclear deal, he said.

As to the future of the JCPOA, Araqchi said that it has taken its course and is moving ahead within the framework devised for it.

'We have never been and are not optimistic about the opposite party because we have neither talked with it optimistically nor were we after the negotiations.'

If the opposite party breaches it commitments regarding JCPOA, the deputy foreign minister added, Iran will also be able to return to former conditions.

Also referring to the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei's letter about JCPOA, Araqchi said that Foreign Ministry will fulfill all guidelines stipulated in the letter.
