Describing details of the new agreement with a major German electrical company, Seyed Ali Barband said, following the final agreement with a major German holding, the company will construct a new 1250-megawatt solar power plant in Tehran as well as in some other Iranian cities."
All the funding for the construction of the new solar power plant will be carried out by the German company, underlined Barband asserting, the German side, in turn, will enjoy facilities like guaranteed purchase of electricity as well as a 20-year lease on land at a very low price.
The official emphasized the finalization of the deal for establishment of a 500-megawatt solar power plants in Mallard Karaj, Kahrizak and Varamin in Tehran Province; according to the agreement, construction of the first solar power plant will begin in early 2016 and the first plant will become operational in May, 2016 in accordance with the defined schedule.
Estimating a significant increase in electricity consumption in Tehrans industrial zones and factories in future, Barband stated, the envisaged plan is to increase power generation capacity during the post-sanction era by various means including foreign direct investment, construction of new solar, wind and incinerator plants as well as building small-scale plants with distributed generation."
The officialfurther reported on negotiations with Chinese financers to build factories for making solar panels adding, in addition, several talks have been made with a large number of Asian and European investors to build power plants with wind and solar energies at priority in Tehran province."
Barbandi said losses in Tehrans electricity network grid have decreased by 5 per cent over the past year; efforts are being made to reduce power losses from 13 per cent to less than 10 per cent, he concluded.
