Velayati hails Iran's endeavors to enhance Islamic culture

Tehran, Nov 2, IRNA -- Head of the Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council Ali-Akbar Velayati met Professor Roshdi Rashed, Egyptian mathematician and historian and also professor of History of Science at French universities here on Sunday.

Professor Rashed is one of the most distinguished scientists of the Muslim World.

During the meeting, Velayati said that Islamic Republic of Iran has always endeavored for the enhancement of the Islamic culture and civilization.

He underlined that the Iranian cultural bodies have made all-out efforts to uphold the status of Iran's culture and civilization.

'It is for many years that the Cultural Revolution's Supreme Council's Culture and Civilization Committee has made serious efforts in the similar fields and republished hundreds of volumes of new research books like the series of science history in Islam and Iran, the collection of chronological history of culture and civilization of Islam and Iran, the role of Shiite in the culture and civilization of Islam and Iran, the huge collection of medical encyclopedia of Islam and Iran,' Velayati said.

Professor Rashed, for his part, underlined the importance of the Islamic sciences as the foundation of human civilization, and said, 'I propose that museum of the history of science in Islam and Iran to be established in Iran as one of the pioneer countries in the filed of research in Islamic culture and civilization.'

He said that if Iran that is the birthplace of great personalities like Hakim Omar Khayyam and Kharazmi does not establish such museum and other countries do it instead it will incur irreparable damage to the great history of rich Islamic Iran's culture and civilization.

'The book of Algebra by renowned Iranian scholar Kharazmi has been translated into English, French and Arabic in France, but it has never been translated into Persian,' Professor Rashed said.
