Iran should seize China’s market opportunities: Attaché

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s commercial attaché in China lamented a lack of proper knowledge of the export opportunities available to the Iranian companies in the Asian economic giant, saying Iran lags even behind Afghanistan in terms of exports to China.
Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Seyed Reza Seyed Aqazadeh said China is an ideal destination for the export of consumer, intermediate and capital goods, but Iranians have little knowledge of China’s market and have focused on a limited section of that lucrative market.

Iran has instead concentrated on the purchases from China, he deplored.

Seyed Aqazadeh pointed to China’s annual imports worth more than $600 billion, saying Iran’s share is lower than even Afghanistan.

Earlier in October, Iran's Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Tayyebnia met China’s Minister of Finance Lou Jiwei on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Peru to discuss holding Iran-China joint economic cooperation.

China is Iran's largest oil client and the value of bilateral trade between the two countries reached $47.5 billion from January to November 2014.
