Iranian former diplomat denied visa for Bahrain

Tehran, Oct 30, IRNA Bahraini government refused to issue a visa for and Iranian scholar and former member of Iran nuclear negotiating team, Hossein Mousavian, to take part in the Persian Gulf Security Conference in Manama.

Mousavian told IRNA that he was scheduled to deliver a lecture on nuclear deal and Iran's regional policies in the conference.

Persian Gulf Security Conference focusing on security in the waterway is held each year with hundreds of outstanding global personalities in the attendance.

International Institute for Strategic Studies organizes the event, with the Bahraini government paying a major portion of expenses to host the event.

Stating that he was the only Iranian participant in the last year's conference, Mousavian said, 'Last year, Persian Gulf Arab states and Western countries turned the atmosphere of the event totally against Iran and I responded them strongly every time any lecturer talked against Iran.'

Referring to his response to Canadian foreign minister who had called General Soleimani as a terrorist, Mousavian said, 'I responded Canadian foreign minister and French defense minister who described Iran as a threat to the world, in such a way that they did not speak anymore.'

'This year, the Bahraini government has refuted to issue a visa for me and given the fact that no other Iranian official participates in the event, it wanted to turn the conference into a totally anti-Iran event, with no Iranian to be there to dismiss their accusations,' he said.

Mousavian also said that an informed source with the International Institute for Strategic Studies has said that the Bahraini Security Organization has blocked his presence in the event.
