Iran willing to cooperate with Pakistan on border security

Islamabad, Oct 28, IRNA Iran has no restrictions to cooperate with Pakistan in political, security, defense and economic spheres, Iran's Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said on Wednesday.

Shamkhani made the remarks in a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister's National Security Advisor Naseer Khan Janjua.
Shamkhani said that Iran and Pakistan share common security and defense concerns including border security, international campaign against terrorism, extremism and violence.

'Cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad on regional security would serve as a good ground for boosting bilateral ties,' Rear-Admiral Shamkhani said.
Shamkhani also praised Pakistan's discernment not to engage its military in the Yemeni crisis.

'The Islamic nations should try to promote dialogue and mutual understanding among themselves and refrain from actions jeopardizing the international peace and security and not to allow their dispute to be utilized by other countries as pretext for military intervention,' he said.

Shamkhani said that government change in Pakistan is not going to affect Iran's unalterable strategy toward Islamabad.

'Some regional and ultra-regional countries alongside with their allies seek to create problems between the two neighboring countries by relying on mercenary terrorist groups disrupting border security between Iran and Pakistan,' he said.

'Deeply-rooted religious links and cultural commonalities have created the most vital ground for furthering all-out ties between Tehran and Islamabad,' he said.
During his two-day stay in Pakistan, Shamkhani is going to visit Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif and Sartaj Aziz Prime Minister's Advisor for Foreign Affairs.
