The recent meeting between US Secretary of State John Kerry and Saudi monarch�Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud was aimed at diverting attention from realities and deceiving the public, a political analyst said.

In a visit to the Arabian Kingdom on Saturday, Kerry met Salman at the al-Oja palace in the Dareya district on the outskirts of Riyadh, where they both called for the �importance of mobilizing the international community� to what they called restoring stability to Syria and �the need for a transition away from [Syrian President Bashar al-]�Assad.�

Now Barry Grossman says,��The carefully timed meetings between John Kerry and the Saudi King are not working meetings at all but rather contrived photo opportunities. It�s pure Hollywood; a marketing effort to divert attention from� inconvenient realities and condition the public into accepting the official narrative - which is rarely more than a diversion -� while the real agenda and related decisions remain a tightly held secret among� a handful of inside players, their� support staff, and sponsors.�

�About the only thing that is clear about Syria right now is that the US has comprehensively lost the initiative and is floundering in the face of Russia�s new more intervensionist policy,� Grossman told Press TV on Sunday.

�The US now has little choice but to divert attention from the bloody cost of its failures by once again focusing attention on the Assad question,� he said.

Syria�s crisis �was deliberately contrived by the US and its allies for reasons which have little if anything to do with Bashar Assad,� he added.

�The US and its allies are now trying to sell a complete solution to the Syrian crises by promoting the fiction that if Assad steps down or is removed, the nation can be governed by a transitional council,� Grossman noted.

�This is of course patently absurd and, along with carefully scripted rhetoric calling for Syria to become a unified, pluralistic and stable country for all Syrians, provides further insight into the US led alliance�s true agenda of either dragging Syria into the US led New World Order system or, if it cannot,�Balkanizing its territory,� he added.

Syria has been gripped by foreign-backed militancy since March 2011. The crisis has claimed the lives of more than 250,000 people so far and displaced millions of others.
