Brazilian economic delegation en route to Tehran

TEHRAN, Oct. 26 (MNA) Brazilian minister of development, industry and trade will lead a delegation of economic officials and businessmen to Tehran, arriving on Monday.


Among Armando Monteiros entourage visiting Tehran will be Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Central Bank officials, Foreign Ministry economic team and 35 Brazilian tradesmen. The delegation will seek discussion of possibility of developing economic ties with Iran during the 3-day stay in Tehran and will meet Foreign, Energy, Economics, and Industry ministers and Irans Central Bank and some other bank officials.

The delegation will also have as its objectives improvement of Tehran-Brasilia relations in foreign trade, energy, banking, agricultural, and investment. The visit will provide opportunity for a forum, Tehran-Brazil Cooperation, to be held with industry ministers of both countries and other participants, actives in industry, food, nanotechnology, aerospace, telecommunications, and machinery attending.

Brazil is the 8th largest economy in the world and a rising power in South America. Along with China, Russia, India, and South Africa, Brazil has made BRICS to provide a prospect of a multipolar world.

Senior Brazilian economic ministers in the entourage seems to seal the development of trade with Iran, boosting further Irans ties with other South American nations as well. Brazil is the sole Iranian trade partner in the South American region, with trade balance between two countries exceeding $1.6bn. Brazil is major exporter of meat, sugar and maize; it imports Iranian carpet, petrochemical products and raisins.

Brazil has taken moderate positions about global developments, notably their condemnation of Israeli 2013 strikes in Gaza and ISIL terrorist acts in Iraq and Syria. It also supported nuclear talks between Iran and 5+1, and even sent its foreign minister to Tehran following the JCPOA. Rouhanis meeting with President DilmaRousseff on the sidelines of UN General Assembly in New York provided new horizons in economic and political relations of the two countries.
