EU: Next meeting of JCPOA joint commission expected before implementation Day

TEHRAN (Tasnim) The European Union (EU) has announced that the next meeting of the Joint Commission under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is foreseen to be held before implementation day.

The Joint Commission took stock of the measures taken to date by the participating countries both on nuclear and on sanction related matters to begin the implementation of the JCPOA. It also discussed the Arak Reactor Modernization Project, The EU said in a statement late onMonday.

EU issued a statement on the outcome of the first Joint Commission meeting under the JCPOA after representatives of Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) met in Vienna early on Monday.

All participants expressed their continuing commitment to the swift implementation of the JCPOA. The Joint Commission will continue to monitor developments and will meet at political directors' level on a quarterly basis, or earlier if requested, with the next meeting foreseen before implementation day, the statement added.

The Joint Commission, comprising representatives of Iran, the Group 5+1, and the European Union (EU), is tasked with implementing the terms laid down in the JCPOA and its annexes.

On Sunday, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini in a joint statement had voiced their commitment to the implementation of the JCPOA.

The EU today adopted the legislative framework for lifting all of its nuclear-related economic and financial sanctions. It will take effect on Implementation Day, simultaneously with the IAEA-verified implementation of agreed nuclear measures by Iran, the statement said.
