Rouhani urges expansion of Tehran-Berlin ties in post-JCPOA era
Tehran, Oct 17, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday called for expansion of Tehran-Berlin relations in the new atmosphere created after Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

President Rouhani told German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier that campaign against terrorism needs avoiding double standards.
He said Iran and Germany enjoy a very important and influential status at the regional and global level.
Tehran and Berlin should usethe opportunity available in the post-JCPOA to upgrade cooperation in all areas of interest.
The Iranian chief executive said that Iran regards Germany as an important European state with positive image.
He said Tehran-Berlin relations have always been cordial and in many junctures they have been able to settle international disputes through mutual cooperation.
In the meantime, President Rouhani said Germany has always had influential role in long period of nuclear talks.
'The JCPOA was a very good achievement for all the negotiating parties and as a successful model, it created a very good atmosphere in the international community for engagement and dialogue on other issues.'
Underlining that careful implementation of the JCPOA will benefit all and any obstruction in the way will be harmful to all, president Rouhani said all the negotiating parties should focus on full implementation of obligations.
President Rouhani said that all the seven countries feel they benefit from the agreement and the collective benefit and economic cooperation between Iran and Germany is a key point which can fully consolidate bases of the agreement, he said.
As for expansion of terrorism and cooperation among all countries to fight terrorism, Rouhani said Iran and Germany should make endeavors to upgrade bilateral relations to solve regional and international problems, especially to launch effective campaign against terrorism and strive for regional peace and stability.
'The countries might have differences on international issues; However, settlement of such problems as terrorism is possible through commitment of all countries to basic and important principles and avoiding double-standards.'
Emphasizing that a number of people should admit that terrorist groups are not suitable means for materialization of their objectives, Rouhani said lack of serious resolve of certain countries is among other problems facing effective and stern campaign against terrorism.
Steinmeier for his part said he is now in Tehran to bring about a serious move in revival of high-level ties.
He said he is personally willing to contribute to further expansion of bilateral relations.
He noted that over recent weeks three big German economic delegations travelled to Tehran and two more big delegations are to visit Iran.
He said all should on political and moral grounds strive for tackling menaces of terrorism in the region and walls impeding direct talks and cooperation among countries should be removed.
