Adviser calls IRGC aerospace force ‘most powerful operating force’ in West Asia

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior adviser to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution praised Iran’s defense capabilities, and said the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force is the most powerful “operating force” in the Western Asia.

“Currently, the IRGC Aerospace Force is the most powerful operating force in West Asia and the range of its missiles reaches to 2,000 kilometers,” Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi told reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony to commemorate the IRGC martyrs on Thursday.
He emphasized that the basis of the country’s military might has been formed during the years of ‘Sacred Defense’, the 1980-1988 Iraqi imposed war on Iran.
Safavi said Iran’s defense capabilities have been employed for “ensuring security of the region and fighting against terrorist groups which have been created by the enemy’s intelligence services.”
The remarks came a day after a footage released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) for the first time showcased one of the country’s underground missile bases.
Speaking in the footage, Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh highlighted the domestically-made medium- and long-range missiles, and underlined Iran’s military capabilities.
He described the military site, which is 500 meters (1,600 feet) underground, as the “tip of the iceberg” of the IRGC’s military might, and said this is just one of the country’s numerous missile bases.
The commander further said that a new generation of advanced ballistic missiles using liquid and solid fuels will replace the current missile productions next year.
