Rafsanjani calls for formal inquiry into human tragedy in Saudi Arabia

Tehran, Oct 3, IRNA Chairman of Expediency Council (EC) Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani on Saturday called for formal inquiry into dealths of 465 Iranian Hajj pilgrims in human tragedy in Saudi Arabia.

He made the remarks to a EC formal meeting.

Rafsanjani said that two painful events took place in Mecca this year, causing deaths of pilgrims from several Islamic states, the tragedy injured sentiments of of Muslims.

He acknowledged sufferings of the bereaved families and said that respective officials must help the families to pass the hard time of losing their loved ones.

Rafsanjani said that funeral procession for the victims must be held by formal ceremonies to pay last respect to the pilgrims died in the tragedy.

He said that the government adopted effective foreign policy to promote international and regional interactions in the framework and hoped that foreign policy of the government serves the national interests.

Iranian pilgrims lost 465 persons in this year Hajj incident in Mina, Mecca city, on Thursday September 24, 2015.

Totally in this incident around 4,000 pilgrims from all around the world lost their life.
