Caravan of victims of Mecca tragedy to come home tomorrow

Tehran, Oct 4, IRNA Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Sunday that a caravan of victims of Mecca tragedy will come home tomorrow.

Speaking on the sidelines of memorial services for the victims, Amir-Abdollahian said that no new statistics on number of the victims is available and the growth of the figure is unlikely.

Iran held the Saudi government responsible for the tragedy in line with the International Customary Law, demanding the Saudi leaders to punish the agents responsible for negligence or inaction to avoid such a high-magnitude tragedy.

Iran urged the Saudi leaders to honor International Responsibility of the Government for deaths of foreign nationals in the territory of the Kingdom.

Iran demanded the Saudi government to hold formal inquiry in presence of representatives of Iran and the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation in line with the International Customary Law.

On September 24, a fatal crush took place in Mina as two large crowds of pilgrims were on their way to participate in the symbolic stoning the Satan, a Hajj ritual.

104 bodies of dead Iranian pilgrims arrived at Tehran's Mehrabad Airport early Saturday and another 114 bodies arrived on Sunday.

Death toll of Iranian pilgrims rose up to 465.
