Iran negotiated with Islamic envoys over Mina tragedy: Minister

Tabriz, Oct 1, IRNA Minister of Culture Ali Jannati said Thursday that Iran has negotiated with ambassadors of the Islamic countries over the tragic Hajj stampede in Mina, Saudi Arabia.

Speaking to IRNA on the sidelines of a visit to Tabriz International Book Fair, Jannati said Iranian ambassadors in Islamic countries have also talked with officials of those countries, convincing them about the depth of the incident.

The Iranian ambassadors tried to bring Saudi officials under pressure through negotiations with officials from Islamic countries to deliver the bodies of the victims of the incident at the earliest and identify those remaining missing as soon as possible, Jannati said.

According to an announcement by Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, 465 Iranian pilgrims lost their lives in Mina incident.
