Zarif meets counterparts from Romania, Egypt, NZ

New York, Sept 25, IRNA Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif meets with his counterparts from Romania, Egypt and New Zealand as well as UN under secretary general discussed ways for developments of bilateral ties and called for visiting Iran.

Earlier today, Zarif met with President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer in New York.

During the meeting, Zarif said that that diplomacy is the only way for settling the regional crises.

Zarif and Maurer discussed the developments in Syria and Iraq as well as mutual cooperation.

During the meeting, Maurer appreciated Iran for its role and cooperation in facilitating the Red Cross's operations in the region and welcomed Iran's becoming a regional center for coordination of humanitarian operations given the Iranian Red Crescent Society's huge potentials and experiences in the field of supplying humanitarian aids.

Zarif departed for New York on Tuesday to follow up the trend of implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and setting up a joint commission between Iran and the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, France and Britain plus Germany) as well as holding talks with EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini on starting new round of talks between Tehran and the European Union.
