New York, Sept 25, IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani in a message to his First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri issued special orders for following up the Mena incident.
The Iranian president in his message condoled with families of the victims of Hajj incident and the sad and sorrowful stampede of Mena.
‘The regretful and sorrowful tragic incident of death and injury of over 200 Iranian Hajj pilgrims on the threshold of my arrival in New York imposed heavy sorrow on me and the accompanying delegation,’ President Rouhani said in his message.
‘The passing away of our beloved Hajj pilgrims beside the Muslim Ummah and injury of many others in Mecca is the source of regret,’ the Iranian president added.
President Rouhani said that the declaring a three-day mourning in Iran which is the least feeling of sympathy by the Iranian nation and government with the families of the victims shows the extent of the calamity.
The Iranian president said that dispatching relief and rescue teams and in case of need sending airplanes to Saudi Arabia, dealing with the affairs of the Hajj pilgrims, injured of the incident, and dispatch of the deceased pilgrims to the country tops agenda of the headquarters to follow up the Mena incident.
‘The governor generals should go to the houses of the deceased and the injured of the incident to supply the needed assistance to them while relaying my condolences to them,’ he added.
President Rouhani pointed out that the Iranian Foreign Ministry and the Iranian Ambassador to Riyadh are duty-bound to investigate the cause of the incident and take all the necessary measures to help to revival of the rights of the victims and injured of the incident, and said, ‘I ask the Saudi government to fulfill its legal and Islamic duties concerning this issue while shouldering the responsibility.’
