Following the wave of unprecedented and promising events regarding the Afghan refugees, Iranian lawmakers codified a double-urgency plan aimed at granting citizenship to the children of Iranian mothers and martyrs non-Iranian fathers during an open session on Tuesday.

There have been no details disclosed about�MP�s final decision, but it is strongly hoped that Iran parliament approves the plan that leads to solving the basic problems of several hundred thousand children and young.

It seems that this great act of parliament, which is one step away from becoming law, is an important step that proves the country�s humane view of Afghan refugees.

Iran has hosted Afghan refugees since the late 1970s following the occupation of their country by the Soviet Union troops. Although many of those refugees have returned to their country voluntarily, there are still hundreds of thousands of documented and undocumented Afghans in Iran.
