Rouhani stresses IAEA 'effective role' in implementing N. agreement

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani reiterated that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will play an effective role in implementing the Joint Compressive Plan of Action (JCPOA) between Iran and P5+1.

The IAEA will play an effective role in implementing the JCPOA, he said in a meeting with the IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano here in Tehran on Sunday.

We will implement the Additional Protocol voluntarily and we hope that you will monitor implementation of the agreement fairly, Rouhani said.

He said that the widespread cooperation between Iran and the IAEA has been established based on mutual trust, international rules and regulations and professional duties. We are all after one global goal which is establishment of peace, security and trust among nations and countries.

Amano, for his part, said the IAEA wants to sort out all issues based on negotiations and dialogues.

The IAEA is after transparency of issues and fulfilling its duties which can be good bases for long-term cooperation, Amano said.

The IAEA has taken a step-by-step, regular and forward move on investigating Irans nuclear issue and tries to release reports impartially and stress realities, he added.

The Tehran-IAEA roadmap was signed on July 14, the same day that Iran and the P5+1 group the United States, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany finalized the text of their nuclear agreement, dubbed the JCPOA, in Vienna.

As part of the roadmap, the IAEA is required to finish its investigations on Irans nuclear activities and submit a report to the agencys Board of Governors by December 15.

Tehran says it has provided the necessary documents and explanations about its past and present nuclear issues to the IAEA within the agreed time frame.
