Rasht, Gilan Prov., Sept 17, IRNA � Governor General of Gilan Mohammad-Ali Najafi said on Wednesday that Azerbaijan Republic has announced readiness for linking its railway to that of Iran.

Najafi told closing session of the meeting on Iran-Azerbaijan Railway Link that on the proposal of Azerbaijan and Iran�s welcoming, the Azerbaijan railway will continue from the country�s Astra region and get connected to Iran�s Astara.

He said Gilan railway connected Central Asian states and Europe to the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council and north of Iran to the south.
