TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced that the country has successfully kept its Air Defense design and program secret from enemies' intelligence agencies, adding that the system can target any hostile flying objects.

"We have reached a design that we can divert enemy's missiles before they reach our air defense systems and they cannot hit our air defense units," President Rouhani said, addressing a gathering of Iranian knowledge-based companies' managers and directors in Tehran on Wednesday.

He said that the enemy give up its plans to carry out reconnaissance missions over the Iranian airspace after its airplanes and drones were downed by the armed forces.

"I think that we have developed a design in air defense that has still remained fully secret since I haven�t seen or read anywhere that the enemy has come to find out what we have done and which tools we have used," Rouhani said.

His remarks came after Iran unveiled two new home-made radar systems named Nazir and Bina early this month with the capability of detecting radar-evading targets and fighting against electronic warfare on the occasion of Air Defense Day.

Nazir is a long-range and high-precision radar system which is highly capable of detecting targets in low radar cross section and is resistant to radar evading and anti-radar missiles.

The radar can detect all radar-evading targets and is capable of fighting electronic warfare.

Bina and Nazir radar systems have been mounted in the mountainous and plain regions in Southeastern Iran.

Elaborating on the specifications of the two radar systems, Commander of Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmayeeli said that they were fully home-made and unique in the region and the world.

"The radars have been designed in different frequencies and with jump frequency and also in (special) bands which cannot be heard by the enemies," he added.

Esmayeeli explained about other features of the radar systems, and said they are multi-range radars, meaning that they can detect wide-body and stealth targets as well as small planes, including drones, in long distances before they can approach Iranian borders.

He expressed the hope that the two radar systems will be mass-produced within one year.

On September 1, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei asked commanders and forces of Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base to increase their readiness and consider different options for fighting threats.

"You should permanently enhance your preparedness and options for confronting different threats," Ayatollah Khamenei, who is the commander-in-chief of Iran's Armed Forces, said at a meeting with Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base's commanders and officials, including Brigadier General Farzad Esmayeeli in Tehran.

"The vital Defense sensitivities and concerns indicate this reality that you should identify the vulnerable points and all possible enemy methods and work out specific plans and ways to confront all of them," he added.

Ayatollah Khamenei also called on the Air Defense Base to make the most of interactions and relations with science and military centers in a bid to enhance and widen their options for confronting various military threats.
