Symbolically, House republicans vote to block Iran deal

President BarackObamaenjoyed a majorpolicywinlastweek whenDemocratsmanaged to rally enough votes to stopCongressfrom blocking a nuclearagreementwith Iran.

Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J.,whowasoneofjustfour Democratsin the Senate to oppose thedeal, said the dealonly manages or works to containIransnuclear ambitions.

On Thursday, theSenateheld a vote on whether to rejectthe resolution, the opposite of the language in the Houseresolution.

It isexpected, though, that neither bill will be taken up by the Senate meaningtheywill become merely symbolic actions.

Senate action on Thursday allbut guaranteed thatany legislation disapproving of the deal willneverreach Obamas desk.

Iam heartened that somanysenators judged this issue on the merits, and am gratified by the strongsupportoflawmakersand citizens alike, hesaid.Weobviously feel quite confident inour ability to move forward with the rest of the global community in implementing the deal, hesaid.

Theres nonewsanctionsrelief under the JCPOA untilIranhas completed the necessary steps that it needs to complete with the IAEA to verify the status oftheirnuclearprogramme and that its peaceful, he asserted.

HouseSpeaker John Boehner, R-Ohio,saidRepublicans will keep trying to stop the deal from being implemented.

If indeed these promises and assurances are achieved, as I hope they will be,thenthoseof uswhohave beenopponentsof the deal will owe a big apology to supporters.

The benefits affordedIranwill enable them to, withourapproval, construct newweapons, fund theirwell-known terroristallies, and continue to menaceIsrael, oneofourclosestalliesand the only democraticgovernmentin the Middle East, Salmon said.

Across town,Republican presidentialcandidates DonaldTrumpand Ted Cruz andother conservatives, including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, were preparing to headline an anti-deal rally on the lawn of the Capitol.

But that hasnt stopped Republicans from continuing to fight the deal, whichthey insist will fill Irans coffers while failing to create a robustnuclearinspection regime. The House passed another resolution rejecting the deal today and hasmorevotes scheduled for next week.

Thisvoteis a victory fordiplomacy, forAmericannational security, and for the safety and security of theworld, President BarackObamasaid after thevote. We will not let theAmerican peopledown. In the Texas delegation, Representative Gene Green and Filemon Velabothcrossed party lines to vote against theIrandeal.

The next reason was the law gave 60 days of time but the republicans said that they cant vote their decision regarding the issue asallthe relevant documents were not submitted.
