Zarif joins parliamentary commission to probe JCPOA

Tehran, Sept 13, IRNA A parliamentary commission for examining the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) convened on Sunday for the 10th period in presence of Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Deputies foreign minister Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht-e Ravanchi also attended the commission hearing session.

Zarif and his deputies are expected to explain the context and annexes of the JCPOA to the lawmakers.

Meanwhile, Saeed Jalili, the former Iranian chief negotiator, Ali Baqeri, a senior member of the Iranian negotiating team and Fereydoun Abbasi, the former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) participated in the morning session of the commission.

The members of the parliamentary commission tasked with examining the JCPOA are also due to visit Arak nuclear facilities on Monday.

Jalili told the meeting that the JCPOA will not lead to lift the sanctions and the government must not have reached a settlement with the western governments.

President Hassan Rouhani said on Saturday that he will not allow the radicals to damage the hope the nation pinned on the government and the initiative taken by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the negotiating team in line with guidelines of the Supreme Leader to resolve the 13-year nuclear dispute with the western governments.
