German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier claims that Russian participation in the talks on the Iranian nuclear program was constructive and necessary for reaching an agreement.

BERLIN (Sputnik) � Russian participation in the talks on the Iranian nuclear program was constructive and necessary for reaching an agreement, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said Saturday after the Normandy Four ministerial talks in Berlin.
�Looking back at the Iran nuclear talks we can say that the Russian role was constructive, Russian position was necessary for the settlement,� the minister said.
The so-called Normandy Quartet comprises representatives from Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany.
In July, Iran and the P5+1 group, comprising Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, China and Germany, reached a deal ensuring the safe development of Tehran�s nuclear program and lifting the sanctions the West had imposed against it in fears that it was trying to develop a nuclear weapon.
