JCPOA test for political groups: Ayatollah Rafsanjani

Tehran, Sept 10, IRNA - Chairman of the Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Thursday that supporting or rejecting the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action is a test for the country's political groups.

Praising the government's foreign policy successes he added that JCPOA is a test for Iranian political groups.

Speaking in a local ceremony, he referred to Iran's human and natural resources, adding that the future of Iran is promising.

Islam has emphasized on moderation in both personal and social life of human being, Ayatollah Rafsanjani added.

On July 14, Iran and the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, France and Britain plus Germany) countries finalized the text of the agreement, dubbed the JCPOA, in the Austrian city of Vienna.

Under the JCPOA, limits will be put on Irans nuclear activities in exchange for, among other things, the removal of all economic and financial bans against the Islamic Republic.

The UNSC on July 20 unanimously adopted a draft resolution turning the JCPOA into an international law. All 15 members of the UN body voted for the draft UN resolution in New York, setting the stage for the lifting of the Security Council sanctions against Iran.
