TEHRAN (Tasnim) � Iran defeated Tunisia 3-1(25-17, 21-25, 25-14, 25-20) in the first round of the FIVB Volleyball Men�s World Cup at the Hamamatsu Arena in Shizuoka, Japan, on Wednesday.

Ghafour�s 24 points was built from 19 kills, three blocks and two service aces, while Marouen Garci led Tunisia with 21 points.

Iran lost to Argentina 3-1 on Tuesday.

Team Melli will meet Venezuela on Thursday.

The tournament is a qualification process for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The top two teams will qualify for the Olympics and join Brazil as it has already secured a berth as the host country.

The 2015 FIVB Volleyball Men�s World Cup began on September 8 in Japan and will finish on September 23.
