Source rejects media reports on detention of Iranian military adviser in Yemen

TEHRAN (FNA)- No Iranian military adviser has been arrested in Yemen, an informed source announced on Sunday.

Such reports are fabricated and are no more than a worthless piece of news released for certain purposes, an informed source at the Iranian foreign ministry, speaking on condition of anonymity, said.

Some pro-Saudi media outlets had claimed that Saudi forces and pro-Hadi militias had arrested an Iranian national who provided military counseling services to the Yemeni army and the Arab country's revolutionary forces.

In late August, Iran, once again, called on the world states and international bodies to utilize their entire diplomatic capacities to force the Saudi-led coalition to immediately halt their airstrikes on Yemen to pave the ground for national dialogue in the crisis-hit country.

"The parties that are after creating unrest and civil war in Yemen fail to understand its undesirable repercussions on region's security," Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian pointed out.

"Every influential domestic, regional and international party has to assist the UN Secretary General's special envoy for Yemen to reach a fair political agreement," he further added.

Amir Abdollahian said collaboration in the crimes against humanity in Yemen or remaining silent vis--vis such crimes, will give rise to the dangerous growth of terrorism.

Iran will continue dispatching its humanitarian assistance to Yemen through international organizations, he said.

In mid-April, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif put forward details of a proposed peace plan according to which Tehran seeks to help end the ongoing conflict gripping Yemen.

During his visit to the Spanish capital, Madrid, Zarif proposed a four-point plan, emphasizing the Yemeni nations right to decide its own future free from foreign interference.

The proposal includes hammering out a ceasefire, sending humanitarian assistance to the people affected by violence, launching an intra-Yemeni dialog, and establishing a broad-based government participated by all Yemeni factions, according to Zarif.
