Tehran, Aug 26, IRNA � Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in a message on Wednesday extended condolences on passing away of Qom Seminary theologian Abdolhossein Haeri.

In his message, Ayatollah Khamenei condoled survivors and friends of late Haeri, wishing him divine forgiveness.
Iranian bibliographer and expert on Persian manuscripts Abdolhossein Haeri died of natural causes on Saturday night. He was 88.
Born in 1927 in the religious city of Qom, Haeri was the director of the Majlis Library, Museum and Documentation Center for 20 years, Persian media reported on Sunday.
He also spent over 50 years in the library working on listing and correcting manuscripts kept in the library, while he was also active in his home after he was retired.
Haeri was also a member of the board of compilers of the Dehkhoda dictionary, the most comprehensive Persian language dictionary, and had supervised the publication of several volumes of the series.
The current director of the library, Mohammadreza Majidi, called Haeri an encyclopedia of Islamic studies.
�Master Haeri was one of the revivers of our written heritage who trained many students,� Majidi said.
He called Haeri a national asset, and hoped his students would follow his path and that bibliography would find its former high status in the country.
Haeri was selected and honored as one of Iran�s Eternal Figures in 2003. Subsequently, Iran�s House of Books (IHB) held a ceremony in his honor in 2012.
Speaking at the ceremony, Department of Islamic Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of Iran Director Mostafa Mohaqeq-Damad, who is also a relative of Haeri, regarded the antipathy towards hypocrisy a major characteristic of Haeri family.
Haeri�s father, Ayatollah Abdolkarim Haeri was the founder of the Qom Seminary.
According to Mohaqeq-Damad, the seminary was established to fight against hypocrisy. �My uncle (Abdolkarim Haeri) defined virtue as fighting against hypocrisy,� he had said.
Khalil Mostofi, an expert on manuscripts and one of Haeri�s students, regarded his master as an individual with a unique personality.
