Economic promotion high on FM agenda, says Afkham

Tehran, Aug 26, IRNA The Islamic Republic foreign missions have on their agenda special guidelines to seek economic cooperation with other countries, says Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson.

'The economic department of the foreign ministry, more active than the past, is doing its job,' Marzieh Afkham said in a press conference on Wednesday.

'Engagement in a constructive interaction and promotion of cooperation with other countries fall within the domain of politics,' she said, 'but the consequences of such an engagement are felt in the domain of economy.'

Answering a question on the foreign ministry's idea about energy diplomacy and the presence of foreign delegations in Iran, Afkham said that the foreign ministry as the main contact point between Iran and foreign entities spares no efforts to help promote economic ties.

The foreign ministry is actively trying to boost energy ties, too, she said.

'During the past year, Iran's ambassadors in foreign countries have been engaged in detecting economic potentials,' Afkham said.

'The foreign ministry, in addition to energy, is involved in utilizing all the capacities to help promote Iran's economy,' she said.
