JCPOA Review Committee holds first session

The 15-member Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action Review Committee held its first session in parliament on Sunday and picked Alireza Zakani as its chairman and Mansour Haghighatpour and Vahid Ahmadi as the first and second deputy chairmen.

Hossein Naghavi Hosseini was also elected as the committee’s spokesman.
[Footer: Zakani is a principlist Tehran MP and a critic of the Rouhani administration’s policies and the nuclear negotiating team during talks with world powers.

By appointing a Worrier – who is a veteran of the war Iraq imposed on Iran in the 80s – as chairman, the committee has sent an indirect message to President Rouhani, implying that he should be more concerned about the passage of the Vienna accord in the Iranian parliament than the radical stance of the US Congress.]
