Deputy DM: Supporting allies Iran's principled policy

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami underscored that supporting allies and the resistance front is one of Tehran's principled policies.

"Helping the establishment of security and stability in the region is one of the important principles of the Islamic Republic of Iran government's security policy in the region and we believe that all the regional states are in need of comprehensive security," General Hatami said, addressing military attachs in Tehran on Sunday.

"Another basic principle that the Islamic Republic of Iran pursues in its security and defense policies in the region is supporting allied and independent states and those who resist against occupation and interference as well as reducing tensions and building confidence with all the regional states," he added.

General Hatami said that such a policy can strengthen collaborative defensive polices and produce desirable security agreements in cooperation with all the regional countries based on the approach of establishing security and economic development for everyone.

In relevant remarks earlier this month, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif underlined the country's firm decision to continue development of its defense program as well as its arms aid to those regional states that are fighting terrorism.

"We have announced that our defense capability will continue unharnessed and our arms aids to our allies will continue too," Zarif said.

He stressed that if it hadn't been for the Islamic Republic and its aids in the region and if Tehran hadn't bravely sided with the regional nations in the war on terrorism, the certain capitals in the region would have been occupied by the ISIL terrorist group.
