TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Armed Forces General Staff said outstanding progresses in the defense industry have made the country the region�s dominant power, even comparable with ultra-regional military powers.

�The profound achievements and capabilities of the country in the defense industry� which have been gained consistent with modern global standards, have made Iran the region�s dominant and uncontested power, at the level of competition with the ultra-regional powers,� the Iranian Armed Forces General Staff said in a statement on the occasion of the day of Iran�s Defense Industry.

The statement also described Iran�s major headway in the defense industry as a good model for other sectors, like economy and industry.

The Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.

Tehran has repeatedly stated that its military might is defensive in nature and poses no threat to other countries.
