Iran boosting strategic defense production: Minister

Iran’s Minister of Defense Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan says the country has increased the production of its strategic defense equipment in missile and marine sectors.

Dehqan made the remarks in a meeting with Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee and its members, on Wednesday after the lawmakers visited an exhibition displaying the Defense Ministry’s achievements.

The minister added that the Defense Ministry has increased research and industrial projects to supply weaponry to the Armed Forces and improve their defense capabilities.

He also stressed the importance of improving the country’s defense preparedness and management capability.

Iran’s great defense, missile achievements

Boroujerdi hailed major successes achieved in Iran’s defense industry in various fields and said Iranian legislators support activities in the country’s defense industry.

“Undoubtedly, such a growing trend will also continue in the future,” he added.

The senior lawmaker emphasized that Iran’s military structure is completely independent and under the command of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Iran’s missile and defense industries would strongly continue to make more achievements, he added.

In recent years, Iran has made major breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.

The Islamic Republic has repeatedly said that its military might poses no threat to other countries, reiterating that its defense doctrine is merely based on deterrence.
