TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a message to his new Latvian counterpart on Sunday, congratulated Raimonds Vējonis on his election as new president of the Baltic country.
In his message, Rouhani expressed the hope that during Vējonis presidency, the ties between Iran and Latvia would further increase.
Rouhani also called for the enhancement of ties in all aspects based on mutual understanding and interests.
Latvia’s parliament elected Defense Minister Raimonds Vejonis as president.
Vejonis will replace centrist Andris Berzins, who took office in 2011.
