Iran to hold missile drills in due time: Commander

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri said the country would hold its annual missile exercises in the right time.

A number of Iranian lawmakers as well as students recently sent separate messages to the countrys Armed Forces and urged for holding missile drills as soon as possible to display Irans missile power.

In reaction to the requests, General Jazayeri explained that there are comprehensive annual plans for drills in the Armed Forces.

There is no doubt that the exercises will be held in due time, he told reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony in Tehran.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and has attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems, including missiles.

Tehran has repeatedly assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to other countries, saying that the Islamic Republics defense doctrine is based entirely on deterrence.

Elsewhere in his remarks, General Jazayeri dismissed Western media reports about the presence of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in northeastern Syria, stressing that there is no need for such presence and that the Syrian nation, government, and army are well capable of defending themselves.
