ISCI head: Iran bridges gaps among world nations

Tehran, August 15, IRNA - Head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI) Ammar al-Hakim said on Saturday that recent nuclear deal between Iran and G5+1 proved that big powers are not able to confront emerging powers such as the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He made the remakrs in the opening ceremony of the 6th General Assembly of World Assembly of Ahl ul-Bait on Saturday in Tehran.

The Islamic Republic of Iran benefiting from its strategic and geopolitical location is now bridging the gaps among world nations, Hakim said.

Big powers are not able to prevent development of emerging powers and recent nuclear deal between Iran and G5+1 is a good proof of such aclaim, Hakim said.

International relations in the region have changed and the grounds have been prepared for terrorist groups to grow but the Islamic Republic of Iran benefiting from its strategic and geopolitical location is now bringing world nations closer to one another, he said.

The Islamic Revolution weakened big powers in the world through its supports for the oppressed nations and could successfully focus on resistance, Islamic awakening and liberation movements in the world, the Head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq said.

Priority should be given to the economic status of Shia Muslims, he said adding that the issue of Palestine is of prime importance and it should remain on the agenda under any circumstances, Hakim said.

President Hassan Rouhani addressed the opening ceremony of the 6th General Assembly of World Assembly of Ahl ul-Bait here on Saturday.

Some 500 foreign guests from 130 countries along with 500 Iranian guests from Iran have taken part in the congress and are to express their views on various issues of the Muslim world.
