Beirut, August 12, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif said in a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister and Defense Minister Samir Muqbil on Wednesday that no veto will work to block the Lebanese national resolve to find a settlement to their country’s problems.
Zarif said that the Islamic Republic of Iran encourages consensus among Lebanese political parties to elect the country’s new president.
Lebanon government has been without a president for 445 days.
Zarif highlighted the Lebanese defense minister’s role in establishment of peace and stability in his country.
Zarif said that the observed solidarity in Lebanon today is indebted to praiseworthy efforts made by Mr. Muqbil.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese defense minister highlighted Zarif’s prominent role to bring the nuclear dispute to an end by the diplomatic campaign.
‘We are aware of the tremendous efforts made by Mr. Zarif to achieve a historical agreement with major world powers,’ he said.
The Lebanese defense minister said that Beirut is pleased with that the nuclear deal struck on July 14 and hopes the positive effects of the diplomatic campaign will be observed in settlement of problems of Lebanon and the entire region.
