Iran daily: FM Zarif — nuclear deal is “balanced” and satisfies All

In the Iranian Government’s latest promotion of the July 14 nuclear deal with the 5+1 Powers, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has said that the “balanced” agreement satisfies all parties.

“The final text [of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action is a balanced text,” Zarif told a forum in Tehran on Sunday:
It is not such that we have managed to impose all our demands on the opposite party. Such a thing would not be an agreement…On the other hand, the opposite party neither could nor will be able to do so either.
Zarif said all parties in Iran’s deal with the 5+1 (US, Britain, China, France, Russia, and Germany) were “victorious”, except for “warmongers”.

The agreement has faced some opposition within Iran, notably from hardline clerics and MPs, some of them linked to former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. However, the regime’s leadership has continued to stand behind the deal: on Saturday, it was endorsed by the head of the military, General Hassan Firouzabadi.

Zarif said the agreement will take Iran’s nuclear dossier off the agenda of the UN Security Council, while the Iranian missile program will not be “restricted”.
