After nuke deal: Japan sends top-ranked delegation to Iran for trade talks

Japan is sending a top trade and industry official to Iran with executives from multiple industries now that a recently reached nuclear deal has paved the way for Tehrans economy to rejoin the global market.

The landmark deal struck last month betweenIran and the P5+1 group ofsix world powers is aimed atcurbing Iran's nuclear program inreturn fora potential easement ofsanctions.

As a result, international delegations are flocking toTehran todo business inwhat would be the biggest economy torejoin the global trading and financial system sincethe break-up ofthe Soviet Union in1991, Reuters reported.

Daishiro Yamagiwa, vice-minister ofthe Ministry ofEconomy, Trade and Industry, will visit Tehran and meet top Iranian government officials onAugust 8 and 9, the ministry said ina statement onFriday.

Yamagiwa will convey Japan's strong desire toquickly normalize economic relations once sanctions are lifted, the ministry said.

Last week, Italy became the latest country tosend a government minister toTehran tohold talks, Reuters reported.

Government representatives fromFrance, Germany and Serbia have also traveled toIran sincethe July 14 agreement, which raised the prospect ofbanking and trade sanctions onIran being lifted, possibly bythe end ofthis year, Reuters reported.

Last month, Iran outlined plans torebuild its main industries and trade relations afterthe nuclear agreement, announcing that it was developing oil and gas projects worth $185 billion by2020.
