Iran's senior negotiator to brief lawmakers on JCPOA details

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Seyed Abbas Araqchi, a senior nuclear negotiator in recent talks with world powers, will attend the Iranian parliament on Sunday to brief lawmakers on the details of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) reached in Vienna, Austria, an MP announced.

Spokesman for the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Nozar Shafi'ee said on Saturday that Araqchi will address the commission's members and analyze the text of JCPOA on Sunday.

Members of the commission have invited Deputy Foreign Minister Araqchi to attend the session, Shafi'ee said, adding that they had also invited Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, but he will not make it to the parliament due to his tour of regional countries.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 concluded more than two weeks of intensive nuclear talks in Vienna.

The negotiations resulted in a comprehensive 159-page document known as JCPOA on Iran's peaceful nuclear program.

Shafi'ee had earlier noted that the parliament will closely examine the text of the document Iran and major world powers have finalized on Tehran's nuclear energy program.
