Violation of Iran deal will have consequences for US: Araqchi

Tehran, July 22, IRNA Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Wednesday that violation of Iran deal will have consequences for the United States.

Araqchi, who was speaking at a press conference, made the remarks when asked what would happen if the next US president refuses to veto possible Congress fresh sanctions on Iran.

The deputy foreign minister said the US have agreed to commitments according to which US president has to veto any possible Congress sanctions on Iran and continue to do so as long as the deal is in place.

If the next US president refuses to do so, it will be considered as a breach of the deal and will have its own consequences for the US, Araqchi said.

In such case, 'we will refer to the mechanism that we have devised and if our demands are not met, the deal will be broken,' he added.
