On Tuesday, the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany reached a deal on Iran's nuclear program.

BRUSSELS (Sputnik) The recent nuclear treaty with Iran will restore confidence in neighboring countries and help resolve ongoing unrest in the Middle East, especially in Syria and in Yemen, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said Monday.

On Tuesday, the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany reached a deal on Iran's nuclear program. Tehran agreed to reduce its uranium enrichment and allow international inspections in exchange for a gradual lifting of Western sanctions on the Islamic country.

"It is also a possibility for rebuilding trust between Iran and its neighbors, between Iran and international community," Mogherini told reporters ahead of at the Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels, adding that the European Union is ready "to facilitate this rebuilding of trust in the region."

The policy chief said that the Iran agreement would have positive consequences for resolving major security issues in the Middle East, including those in war-torn Syria and Yemen.

According to Mogherini, the agreement demonstrates the effectiveness of multilateral diplomacy.

After the Iran nuclear treaty was reached, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that Tehran will use money received from sanctions relief to back terrorism in the Middle East.

Later on Monday, the United Nations Security Council will vote on a resolution concerning Irans nuclear program. The resolution will review the UN-imposed economic sanctions against the country, including arms embargo.
