Iran condemns Islamic States' silence on Saudi-led crimes in Yemen

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Health Minister Seyed Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi deplored certain Islamic countries for keeping mum on the indiscriminate Saudi-led airstrikes against the innocent Yemeni people.

"Unfortunately, the world, and specially certain Islamic states, have kept silent on the al-Saud's crimes more than the Zionist regime's crimes; therefore, we can say that the Yemeni people are more oppressed," Qazizadeh Hashemi said, addressing a gathering in Tehran on Monday night.

He expressed regret that certain Arab Islamic countries have kept mum on the Saudi-led airstrikes in Yemen before the eyes of their nations which support the Yemeni people.

"We strongly condemn the al-Saud's behavior," Qazizadeh Hashemi said.

In relevant remarks yesterday, Chairman of Iran's Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani condemned the Saudi aggression against Yemen, and underlined that the Saudi regime had been caught in the Yemeni quagmire.

"The nave Saudi rulers have made a mistake by opening war on Yemen," Rafsanjani said.

Rafsanjani, who is known to have had very good relations with senior Saudi officials when he was in power as Iran's president, voiced deep concern over the ongoing crisis in Yemen, and warned Riyadh officials that their attack on Yemen means playing with fire.

The clashes between the popular Ansarullah and the Saudi-backed loyalists of the fugitive President Mansour Hadi continue in the Southern parts of the country as Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen for 104 days now to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

The Saudi-led aggression has so far killed at least 4,998 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children.

Hadi stepped down in January and refused to reconsider the decision despite calls by Ansarullah revolutionaries of the Houthi movement.

Despite Riyadh's claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.
