Draft agreement on cooperation prepared for Caspian Sea states: Sayyari

Tehran, July 6, IRNA Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari announced that draft agreement on cooperation between the littoral states of the Caspian Sea has been prepared.

Sayyari made the remarks at a meeting held in St. Petersburg, Russia, with participation of navy commanders of Caspian Sea littoral states to discuss security of the sea.

Addressing the meeting, Sayyari elaborated on Iran's stance on how to ensure the Caspian Sea security.

According to the draft agreement, settlement of security in the Caspian Sea will be through five littoral states and without presence of foreign forces, said Sayyari.

Also, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Viktor V. Chirkov said in the meeting that Moscow's security ties with Iran are being strengthened day by day.

Sayyari departed for Russia on June 30. He will be in Tehran this afternoon.

Iran suggested holdin the security meeting on the sidelines of the international maritime defense exhibition in St. Petersburg.

The exhibition ended on July 5.
