German FM urges Iran-P5+1 conclusive nuclear deal

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier says Iran and the P5+1 group of countries must stick to a mutual understanding reached in Aprilto clinch a conclusive agreement on Tehrans nuclear program.

What is important now over the next few hours and days is that we finalize the parameters of the Lausanne agreement into a text for a conclusive agreement, Steinmeier told reporters while leaving Palais Coburg in the Austrian capital of Vienna on Sunday.

It sounds easy but it is difficult as there are attempts to make changes not only to be more concrete on some of the parameters [of the Lausanne agreement] but to seek improvements on some of these parameters from the point of view of Iran, he added.

He emphasized that Iran and the six global powers can reach a political understanding on the nuclear issue if both sides stick to the agreed Lausanne text.

The German foreign minister saidall the negotiating parties should act constructively and show their readiness and courage to reach afinal agreement.

He pointed to numerous conflicts in the Middle East and said the settlement of the nuclear issue can have a positive effect on resolving other conflicts in the region, conflicts like in Iraq and Syria and other countries.

Steinmeier added that negotiators representing the two parties should not lose courage during the nuclear talks in Vienna ahead of a self-imposed June 30 deadline.

He said if Iran and the six powers fail to reach an agreement and settle the nuclear issue, the people in Iran and the international community will feel let down.
