Iran, Syria, Iraq to hold summit to tackle terrorism: Minister

Tehran, June 22, IRNA - Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said here Sunday that Iran, Syria and Iraq are set to hold trilateral summit aimed at tackling terrorism.

Rahmani Fazli made the remarks in a joint press conference attended by his Syrian counterpart Major General Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Sha'ar.

'These three countries that are fully active in war against Israel, terrorism, violence and extremism, would reinforce their all-out cooperation,' the Iranian minister added.

He also expressed hope that the trilateral summit could be considered as a new chapter for Islamic countries to become united and establish a multilateral ministerial summit among themselves.

Rahmani Fazli underscored that Iran and Syria attach great importance to the fight against terrorism, Daesh in particular.

'The terrorists are tarnishing the real image of Islam by means of extremism, voidance and terror,' he added.

Al-Sha'ar met with Rahmani Fazli in Tehran on Monday.

During the meeting, the two ministers reviewed regional developments and explored ways of expanding mutual relations.

They also focused on the need to fight terrorist groups.

They also signed an agreement on mutual cooperation in security and police areas.

Al-Sha'ar arrived in Tehran on Sunday.
